Delhi University Registration Process & Admission Procedure 2021: Delhi University 2021 Application Form has been started for UG from 2nd August 2021. For PG course has been started from 26th July 2021. Delhi University Entrance Test (DUET)  is a national-level exam, which is conducted by the National Testing Agency. The exam is held for admission of candidates in various UG, PG, and M.Phil / Ph.D. courses offered by DU. DUET for all courses is held in online mode only.

DU 2021 Admission Process via DUET 2021

The University of Delhi offers admission to UG, PG, M.Phil / Ph.D courses on two basis – Merit-based and Entrance exam (DUET) based. The candidates are allotted a college on the basis of their performance in the test, preference submitted and availability of seats.

Admission criteria to UG courses

General Criteria :

Criteria Details
Age limit No limitation on the age of the candidates applying for UG and PG courses.
Nationality The Candidates must be a citizen of India.
Qualifying Examination The candidates applying for UG courses must have completed their 10+2 from a recognized board. The candidates with a bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply for PG courses.

Eligibility for UG Courses :

Course Details
B.A (Hons) Economics 45% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination. Studied & passed Math in the qualifying exam.
B.A. Hons. (Humanities and Social Sciences) 60% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination.
Bachelor of Science in Physical Education, Health Education, and Sports Aggregate of 45% or more marks in the qualifying examination is required.
BA Hons Multimedia and Mass Communication Candidates must have passed their class 12th or equivalent examination with 75% marks in four subjects. Also, they must have secured at least 85% in English.

(B.El.Ed.)

An aggregate of 50% marks in the qualifying examination* as well as have scored minimum pass marks in each of the four subjects. The criteria for selecting the four subjects can be: One subject from List I and three from List II. OR One subject from List I, two from List II and one from List III

Admission Process for UG courses:

There are two modes of admission for UG courses at Delhi University:

Merit-Based –Undergraduate programs are offered by the University through its colleges in various streams of studies under different faculties namely Arts, Social Sciences, Applied Social Sciences and
Humanities, Commerce and Business Studies, Mathematical Sciences, Sciences, and Inter-
Disciplinary and Applied Sciences Programs. The criteria for eligibility for each of the programs offered at the undergraduate level are listed above. Candidates must check these thoroughly to see
whether they satisfy the requirements or not.

Entrance Exam Based – Admission to undergraduate programs based on entrance tests (wherein admissions will be made based on marks scored in the entrance test and qualifying class XII examination) are offered by the University of Delhi through some of its colleges/departments in various streams of study. The seats are filled on the basis of applicants‘ rank in Entrance Test and Interview / Group Discussion if any.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has been entrusted with the conduct of entrance tests for the following programs and participating colleges are listed below

DUET 2021 Application Form:

The application form for DUET 2021 is released in online mode. No offline form is released for the candidates. To apply online, you may follow the steps as below:

Step 1: Register online by providing basic information like the candidate’s name, date of birth, email id, mobile number, etc.

Step 2: Login and proceed to fill in details in the DUET application form. 

Step 3: Upload images as per the necessary specification and format. 

Step 4: Pay the required amount of the application fee. 

Step 5: Lastly take a printout of the submitted form for future reference

*Note :

  1. The Candidates can register for as many entrance-based programs as they wish. The registration fee for each entrance test will be charged individually. If any candidate applies for more than one program and the entrance test schedule for the programs applied for coincides, the University shall not be responsible for this. However, the competent officials will try their best to identify those
    Candidates who are applying for admissions in multiple programs from the registration portal to allocate the same or nearby Test Centres, in case of examinations for these programs, are on the
    same day.
    2. In the case of programs being run at multiple colleges, or entrance tests covering more than one
    the program, the Candidates are required to state their order of preference of program and/or
    college.
  2. Candidates to BMS/BA(H)BE/BBA(FIA) must fill all the college-program choices. There are 21
    choices for female Candidates and 17 for male Candidates. The candidates should mark “1” for their most preferred college program, “2” for the next most preferred, and so on. If a college program is marked with a preference number, the same may be allotted to the Candidate and the Candidate would be required to take admission in that college program in order to be eligible for any future changes in college and program.

DUET 2021 application form fee: The application fee for DUET are:

The online registration process is completed only after the realization of the registration fee.
Candidates must ensure that the registration fee is submitted to the correct portal;
submissions that have been made via any other link than available through the Candidate’s
Dashboard on the University undergraduate admissions portal will not be considered.

*NOTE: The registration fee for each entrance-based program will be charged separately. For example, if a Candidate under a UR category selects  BMS/BA(H)BE/BBA(FIA), and FYIPJ he/she shall have to pay Rs 750/- + Rs. 750/- = Rs. 1,500/-.

Documents that must be scanned to fill upload in the application form are:

(a) Class X certificate 

(b) Class XII certificate 

(c) Relevant reservation certificate issued by the competent issuing authority 

(d) Link of the uploaded clip for admission against music 

(e) Photo identity card (Aadhar Card, Driving License, PAN Card, Voter Identity Card, Passport or School Identity Card)

Candidate to make sure that the names mentioned on the submitted certificate are
same.

Specifications to follow while uploading the documents are:

Declaration of Result/ Merit List: 

A ranking of Candidates will be prepared for each program that shall guide the admission process and shall be displayed on the Admission Portal. This ranking shall be based on candidate response in the entrance exam.
In the case of a tie for a rank, the following tie-breaking rule shall be applied in the order provided below:
i. The Candidate with a higher percentage of marks (aggregate of best four subjects including one language) in the qualifying examination will be considered first for allotment/admission.
ii. The Candidate with the higher entrance test score will be considered first for
allotment/admission.
iii. The Candidate with a higher percentage of marks (aggregate of best five subjects including one
language) in the qualifying examination will be considered first for allotment/admission.
iv. The Candidate with the earlier date of birth (as mentioned in the class X certificate) will be
considered for allotment/admission

Reopening of the portal for alteration of Course/College option:
The portal will be open for the alteration of the course-college preferences for one day after
the declaration of entrance test results. 

Allotment of Course and/or College :

  1. For all the entrance-based courses the allotment of seats shall be done centrally and shall be displayed on the Admission Portal. Only the applicants who satisfy the minimum eligibility criteria for the course will be considered for admission.
  2. Applicants allotted a course and a college/institution shall be required to confirm their interest in the admission by selecting and confirming the college (and course) from their Dashboard on the Admission Portal within the time period as per the University of Delhi policy.
    iii. In the case of BA(H)BE/BMS/BBA(FIA) and the B.El.Ed. courses, the seats available in each college (and course) in each admission category shall be allotted to the applicants in order of their ranks and as per their preferences subject to availability, till all seats in the particular college (and course) are exhausted. An applicant allotted a seat higher in their preference order will not be allowed a change to any seat lower in their preference order within the same admission category.

Online verification of documents by respective colleges/ Centres/ Departments :
The Colleges/ Centres/ Departments shall verify the documents uploaded by the applicant
for eligibility.

  1. Principal/ Director/ HoD to either approve or decline admission.
    ii. In case of lack of necessary documents, the candidate is to be contacted by email/phone so that the same may be provided. In case the candidate does not respond, or where documents remain insufficient, the admission will be declined citing reason.
    iii. The applicant will be communicated the status of the application on their dashboard.
    iv. Those approved are required to pay the fee and receive a confirmation of their admission. Those declined admissions are provided a link to raise any objection with the grievance Committee.

Payment of fees to confirm admission:
Once the Principal/ Director/ HoD has approved their admission, the applicant will receive a link on their Dashboard on the UG Admissions portal through which they must submit the college/course fees due. This fee can only be paid online through the portal.


  1. The applicant is advised to pay the fee without delay within 24 hours of the approval of admission by the Principal/ Director/ HoD, and save the acknowledgment slip bearing transaction ID, Credit Card/ Debit card/ Netbanking details, and date of the transaction as proof for future reference. On successful payment of fees, the applicant is granted provisional admission to the said college.
  2. It is extremely important that applicants pay the fee within the timeframe allocated, failing which it will be concluded that the applicant is not interested in the course of study at that college, and the admission will be automatically canceled.

Verification of the documents:
The uploaded documents will be verified by the respective colleges within the stipulated time period. If at this stage it is found that the information given by the applicant is false and is not supported by the documents presented, the admission will be immediately canceled. No fees will be refunded in such cases.

Process for change of Course/College in subsequent Merit List:
During a given list the applicant will be required to choose one of the two options:
– Option 1: Wish to be re-allotted a seat higher in his/her preference order if the same
is available; or
– Option 2: He/ she is satisfied with the currently allotted seat and does not want
another allotment of seats.
i. During every subsequent Allotment Round, seats available after the previous round
shall be allotted to admitted applicants who choose option 1 and to applicants ranked
above the last admitted rank and who have not yet been allotted a seat, subject to
their preferences.
ii. In case a seat higher in the applicant’s preference is available, the same shall be
allotted to the applicant and the existing admission shall stand canceled.
iii. All applicants allotted seats in an allotment round shall be required to repeat Steps
VII to VIII to obtain admission. The fee to be paid in a subsequent round shall be the
difference (if any) of the new institution fee less the fee already paid.
iv. Upon confirmation of fee with the University, the admission in the college (and course)
shall be confirmed. If the applicant fails to pay the fee to confirm the admission, the
applicant shall not be allotted the seat and shall not be considered for any future
allotment.
v. The following categories of applicants will not be considered in subsequent rounds
of counseling:
– Applicants who have already been allotted their first preference.
– Applicants who voluntarily opted out of re allotments.
– Applicants who have not confirmed admission by completing payment of
fees in any round.
