The decision occurred following a meeting involving high-profile ministers in the Narendra Modi government. Class 12th board examinations will not be held this year for CBSE and CISCE pupils.
PM Modi presided over the meeting, which was also attended by Union Ministers of Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar and Defence Rajnath Singh. Modi will be briefed on all possibilities being considered at the meeting.

Rajnath Singh is likely to provide a briefing on the feedback he has received from various stakeholders during his meeting with the Prime Minister.
Several difficulties were addressed during an earlier conference held by Rajnath Singh, and while most states agreed to have exams at a later date, others were opposed to taking exams and recommended an alternate way of evaluation.
Demand for vaccinating children before asking them to appear for exams was also raised in the meeting.
