Military Direct’s Ultimate Military Strength Index – Indian Armed Forces 4th Strongest in the World, China No.1

According to a study ‘Ultimate Military Strength Index’ by Defence Website ‘Military Direct’, India with 61 Points is the 4th Strongest Military Force in the World. China (82 Points) was rated as the World’s Strongest Military Force followed by the USA (74) & Russia (69).
The index considers factors like – Budgets, number of inactive & active military personnel, total air, sea, land and nuclear resources, average salaries & weight of equipment. World’s Biggest Military Spender – USA (USD 732 Billion per year) followed by China (USD 261 Billion) & India (USD 71 Billion).

India, Pakistan, China to take part in Joint Anti-Terrorism Exercise ‘Pabbi Antiterror’ in 2021: 36th Council meeting of RATS SCO

India, Pakistan, China & other members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) will take part in a Joint Anti-Terrorism Exercise called ‘Pabbi-Antiterror-2021’ scheduled to take place in 2021. The decision to hold a Joint Anti-Terrorism exercise was taken during the 36th meeting of the Council of RATS (Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure) of SCO held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan in March 18, 2021.
RATS, headquartered in Tashkent is a permanent organ of SCO which aims to promote cooperation among 8-members of SCO against Terrorism, Separatism & Extremism.
The participants approved the draft program of cooperation for 2022-2024 to counter-terrorism, separatism & extremism. The next meeting of RATS SCO will be held in September 2021 in Uzbekistan.

RBI Reported 9.1% Growth in India’s Software Services Export in FY20

The Reserve Bank of India(RBI) released the data related to the 2019-20 round of annual survey on exports of computer software and information technology-enabled services in which India’s export of software services stood at USD 128.6 billion during 2019-20, registering 9.1 % growth over the previous year.

For the 2019-20 round of the survey, RBI has contacted 6078 software export companies, of which 1475 companies have responded and accounted for around 82.7% of the total software services exports during the year.

‘UPFPO Shakti Portal’- UP CM Yogi Adityanath Launches India’s 1st of its kind FPO Portal

Uttar Pradesh (UP) Chief Minister (CM) Yogi Adityanath launched UPFPO (Uttar Pradesh Farmer Producer Organization) Shakti Portal as part of the Kisan Kalyan Mission in Gorakhpur, UP. It is the 1st of its kind in India.
Developers – Department of Agriculture, UP with technical support & Funding Support from Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF).
At present, UP has 576 FPOs comprising around 2.15 Lakh Farmers. Out of which, 471 FPOs have registered themselves on the portal.
The initiative is aligned with Prime Minister’s vision of doubling farmers’ income by 2022 & making India a USD 5 Trillion economy by 2024.

Indian e-commerce market to be worth USD 99 Billion by 2024: EY-IVCA 2021 report

According to a report ‘India Trend Book 2021’ released by EY-IVCA (Ernst Young-Indian Private Equity & Venture Capital Association), India’s e-commerce market is expected to be worth USD 99 Billion by 2024. It is also anticipated to grow at a 27% CAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate) over the period 2019-24. Grocery & Fashion/apparel will be the key drivers of this growth. India will have 220 million online shoppers in India by 2025. The Penetration of the online retail market is expected to be 10.7% by 2024, compared to 4.7% in 2019. The report also states that by 2023, 1.2 % or USD 10.5 Billion of India’s grocery sales will be online.

RBI Reported a ‘$36 Billion’ FPI Inflows into Equities, the Highest Record Since FY13

Reserve Bank of India(RBI) in its recent report stated that Foreign portfolio investors(FPIs) pumped inflows into equities in India have made the highest record of $36 billion in FY21 up to March 10, which is the highest one since FY13.

Govt Appointed NTPL as a Trustee for Rs 750 Cr Credit Guarantee Fund Under AHIDF

NABSanrakshan Trustee Pvt Ltd (NTPL), the wholly-owned subsidiary of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development(NABARD) has been appointed by the Government as a trustee for Rs 750 crore Credit Guarantee Fund under Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund (AHIDF).
About Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund (AHIDF):
In June 2020, the government has set up AHIDF with a corpus of Rs 15,000 crore as part of the Aatmanirbhar package.
It would facilitate much-needed incentivization of investments in establishment infrastructure for dairy and meat processing.
Beneficiaries: The eligible beneficiaries under the Scheme would be Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), MSMEs, Section 8 Companies, Private Companies, and individual entrepreneurs with a minimum 10% margin money contribution by them, the balance of 90% would be the loan component to be made available by scheduled banks.

IRDAI Hiked the Maximum Cover Under Arogya Sanjeevani Policy from Rs 5 Lakh to 10 Lakh

Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (Irdai), the insurance sector regulator has hiked the maximum cover under the standard health insurance plan – Arogya Sanjeevani Policy – from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh and also has expanded the sum insured bands under the policy to between ₹50,000 and ₹10 lakh in multiples of ₹50,000. Insurers can offer the revised sum insured with effect from 1 May or earlier.
Objective: To bring more people under the ambit of health insurance by enhancing the coverage available under Arogya Sanjeevani Policy.

Government Recognised Indian Style Wrestling Association as a National Sports Federation

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has officially recognised the Indian Style Wrestling Association of India (ISWAI) as a National Sports Federation (NSF) for promotion and regulation of “Indian Style Wresting” in India.With this recognition ISWAI is eligible to receive fund and support from the government.
Background: i.The Government did not renew the recognition of ISWAI after the introduction of the new scheme of annual recognition from the year 2010.
ii.The recognition of ISWAI was not renewed since ISWAI failed to incorporate the provisions of the National Sports Development Code, 2011.

Cricket: India wins the 2020-21 Paytm T20I series against England

The Indian Cricket Team defeated England in the 5th T20I Match held at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, Gujarat to win the Match and consequently the 2020-21 Paytm T20I series by 3-2. Player of the Series – Virat Kohli. All 5 matches took place at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, Gujarat. India had already won the Test Series by 3-1.
Records & Highlights: Virat Kohli became the 1st Cricketer to score 3, 000 runs in T20 Internationals. Rohit Sharma became the 2nd Indian after Virat Kohli to complete 9000 runs in T20 Cricket.

National Film Awards 2019: Marakkar wins Best Film, Kangana wins Best Actress, Check Full List of Winners!

National Film Awards 2019: The 67th National Film Awards were announced on March 22, 2021. Malayalam film 'Marakkar: Arabikkadilinte Simham' directed by Priyadarshan won the national award for Best Feature Film Award.

The war epic starring Mohanlal was scheduled to have a global release last year but it was halted due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The film will now release in May 2021. The film also won awards for special effects and costume.

Kangana Ranaut won the Best Actress award for her movies Manikarnika -The Queen of Jhansi and Panga, while Manoj Bajpayee and Dhanush won the Best Actor award jointly for their films 'Bhonsle' and 'Asuran' respectively.

Lok Sabha passes National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2021: Everything you must know!

The Lok Sabha on March 22, 2021, passed National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2021. It amends the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi Act, 1991 which provides a framework for the functioning of the Government of Delhi and the Legislative Assembly.

The amendment bill was passed after a reply to the debate by G Kishan Reddy, Minister of State for Home Affairs. It amends certain power and responsibilities of the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi and Legislative Assembly.

The bill that has been passed by the Lower House of the Parliament entails that the term ‘government’ referred to in any law made by the Legislative Assembly will imply the Lieutenant Governor.
