Russian President Putin signs Law paving way to rule until 2036

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a legislation which will enable him to run for two or more consecutive six-year terms, effectively permitting him to remain in office till 2036. The legislation formalizes changes to the Russian Constitution which were endorsed by people through a referendum held in 2020. Before the signing of the new legislation, a President could serve only a maximum of two consecutive six-year terms.

Nirmala Sitharaman represented India, Bangladesh, Bhutan & Sri Lanka in the meeting. Indian Government stated that it has announced Atma Nirbhar Packages of INR 27.1 Lakh Crore, amounting to more than 13% of the GDP.

India records 7.2 % Ethanol-blending in Petrol for the 1st Time

Ethanol-blending in Petrol in India has reached more than 7.2 percent for the First Time. It has reached 7.2 per cent in the first four months of the ethanol supply year 2020-21 (December 2020 – November 2021). Before this, the best-ever ethanol blending in petrol achieved at all-India level was around 5.2 per cent. India has set a target of 10 %(10% of ethanol mixed with 90% of petrol) blending by 2022 & 20 % blending by 2025. The government is promoting the use of ethanol as blendstock with Petrol in line with the National Policy on Biofuels (NPB) – 2018 under the Ethanol Blended Petrol (EBP) Programme.

NITI Aayog Launched first of its kind Online Dispute Resolution Handbook in India

i.Supreme Court Justice DY Chandrachud released the first of its kind Online Dispute Resolution(ODR) Handbook developed by Agami and Omidyar Network India.
ii.The handbook was developed in association with (National Institution for Transforming India) NITI Aayog with the support of ICICI Bank, Ashoka Innovators for the Public, Trilegal, Dalberg, Dvara and NIPFP.
iii.ODR Handbook features the insights and learnings to equip a person to successfully adopt ODR.
iv.ODR is a mechanism to resolve disputes collaboratively outside the court.

SwitchON signed an MOU with PNB for Solar Pump Financing through Loss default guarantee fund

SwitchON Foundation has partnered with Punjab National Bank(PNB) to offer finance to the marginal farmers for buying solar pumps. PNB will be financing solar pumps through the SwitchON Foundation’s – First Loss Default Guarantee Fund.
Objective: The basic aim of this fund is to help unbanked small marginal farmers without any collateral and to promote clean energy.

India’s debt-to-GDP ratio increased from 74% to 90% during Covid-19: IMF

The International Monetary Fund(IMF) reported an increase in India’s debt to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) ratio from 74 percent (at the end of 2019) to 90 percent (at the end of 2020) during the COVID-19 period. Based on the IMF’s baseline forecast, it expects a further drop in India’s ‘Debt to GDP ratio’ to 80 percent due to the recent Indian economy recovery.

IPL Points Table 2021: Despite a brilliant innings from Sanju Samson, Rajasthan Royals fell four runs short from beating Punjab Kings in a thrilling IPL game on April 12, 2021 at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai.

Batting first, the Punjab Kings had posted a massive total of 221 runs with the loss of 6 wickets, powered by stunning batting from Punjab's skipper KL Rahul who had scored 91 runs. Coming out to bat second, the Rajasthan Royals had a huge task ahead.

What followed next was a dream innings from Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson who smashed a spectacular knock of 119 runs off 63 balls. Samson become the first in VIVO IPL to score a century on captaincy debut. This was his third IPL century overall. His sensational innings was powered by 12 fours and 7 sixes.

SpaceX announced the 4 member crew for the World’s 1st all-civilian Earth Orbiter Mission, “Inspiration4”. Chris Sembroski, Dr. Sian Proctor, Jared Isaacman and Hayley Arceneaux were the 1st batch of civilians aboard the Dragon spacecraft to be launched into orbit by SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket by September 15, 2021.

Russia’s Soyuz Rocket Launches 3-member crew to International Space Station

Russia’s Soyuz MS-18 Yu. A. Gagarin Rocket (named after Yuri Gagarin the 1st human being to travel to space) successfully launched a 3-member crew (2 Russian Cosmonauts & 1 American Astronaut) to the International Space Station (ISS). The rocket was launched from Baikonur Cosmodrome, Kazakhstan. The rocket has been named after Societ Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of his travel to space aboard Vostok 1 (On April 12, 1961). The rocket took 2 Russian Cosmonauts Oleg Novitskiy & Pyotr Dubrov, and US Astronaut Mark Vande Hei to the ISS. The arrival of 3 more astronauts to ISS, temporarily increases the Station’s population to 10. At present, 4 Americans, 2 Russians & 1 Japanese national man the International Space Station.
