NITI Aayog’s AIM and Sirius (Russia) Launched 14-Day “AIM–Sirius Innovation Programme 3.0” from Nov 7-21, 2020

National Institution for Transforming India (NITI) Aayog’s Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) and Sirius, Russia launched a 14 days long (from 7–21 November 2020) virtual programme named “AIM–Sirius Innovation Programme 3.0” for Indian and Russian school children.This is the first virtual innovation programme of this series amid COVID-19. AIM–Sirius Innovation Programme is a first Indo-Russian bilateral youth innovation initiative to develop technological solutions (both web- and mobile-based) for the two countries.

Uttarakhand CM Inaugurates India’s Longest Motorable Suspension Bridge ‘Dobra-Chanthi’ in Tehri-Garhwal & becomes 1st state to provide free Wifi to Govt Institutes & Universities

Uttarakhand Chief Minister, Trivendra Singh Rawat inaugurated the 725-metre-long Dobra-Chanti suspension bridgein Tehri-Garhwal district. It is the longest motorable single lane suspension bridge in India.The bridge has been built over the Tehri Lake with a total cost of INR 2.96 Crore (approximately).The bridge will connect Pratap Nagar town with Tehri Garhwal district headquarters.
Uttarakhand Free Internet service to Government colleges and Universities:
Trivendra Singh Rawat launched free high-speed WiFi services for all government colleges and universities in the state. With this Uttarakhand is the first state in the country to provide free internet to all government colleges and universities.

PM Inaugurated Hazir-Ghogha Ferry service in Gujarat; Renamed Ministry of Shipping as Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways

Government of India renamed the Ministry of Shipping as Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. It was announced by Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi during the virtual inauguration of Ro-Pax Ferry service between Hazira in Surat district in south Gujarat and Ghogha in Bhavnagar district of Gujarat.The vessel Voyage Symphony will be used for this service.

Uttar Pradesh ranks among Top 5 in MSME employment generators during Pandemic: RBI report

According to a recent report of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Uttar Pradesh (UP) has been ranked amongst the top five states of the country which provide employment under the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) during Corona pandemic.
Rankings in the report:
i.The top 5 places have been taken by Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra.
ii.UP has secured the place ahead of Karnataka, Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana, Telangana in the list of top 10 states.

Overview of 49th Edition of Rolex Paris Masters 2020

The 49th Edition of the Paris Masters officially known as 2020 Rolex Paris Masters) took place from November 2-8, 2020 at Palais omnisports de Paris-Bercy (Bercy Arena) in Paris, France. It is a Masters 1000 event and it is a part of the 2020 ATP Tour.The Rolex Paris Masters is the ninth and final ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) Masters 1000 event. Surface Type – Hard court tournament (played on Indoor Hard Court).

The Book “Moustache” by Malayalam Author S Hareesh won the JCB Prize for Literature 2020

book “Moustache”(original Malayalam title – “Meesha”) authored by Malayalam writer S. Hareesh and translated to English by Jayasree Kalathil won the JCB Prize for Literature 2020 worth Rs.25 lakhs. The book was published by HarperCollins India in 2020.This is the 2nd Debut novel and 2nd Malayalam Translation to Win the JCB prize for Literature.The winner was announced by Lord Bamford, Chairman of JCB in a virtual awards ceremony.
About Jayasree Kalathil:
i.Jayasree Kalathil is a researcher, human rights, anti-racism and mental health activist.
ii.Her works include the translation of “Diary of a Malayali Madman” by N Prabhakaran which won the Crossword Books Jury Award for Indian Languages Translation in 2019.
The Shortlist of the JCB Prize for Literature 2020:
Along with Moustache, Djinn Patrol on the Purple Line by Deepa Anappara, Chosen Spirits by Samit Basu, Prelude to a Riot by Annie Zaidi and These, Our Bodies, Possessed by Light by Dharini Bhaskar were the books on the shortlist of the JCB Prize for Literature 2020.
About the JCB Prize for Literature:
i.The JCB Prize for Literature is an annual prize, instituted in 2018 to recognise the distinguished work of fiction by Indian Author.
ii.The prize is funded by the JCB, the global construction equipment manufacturer and administered by JCB Literature Foundation.
iii.The author of the winning work will receive Rs 25 lakh and the translator (if any) will get an additional Rs. 10 Lakh and the authors of the shortlisted works receive Rs.1 lakh and the translators (if any) will receive Rs. 50,000.

NASA Detected first fast radio burst in Milky Way galaxy

National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) detected a bright Fast radio bursts (FRB) and X-rays, which lasted for a millisecond, from the Milky Way galaxy for the first time ever. This signal, called FRB 200428, was found in April inside the Milky Way galaxy for the first time and was also the first to be traced to a magnetar, which are dead stars that have the most powerful magnetic fields in the universe.

ISRO Launched India’s Earth Observation Satellite EOS-01 and 9 Others from Sriharikota, AP by PSLV-C49

In its first mission of 2020, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on November 7, 2020 has launched its latest earth observation satellite EOS-01 from Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) or Sriharikota Range (SHAR), Andhra Pradesh (AP) along with 9 international customer satellites fromLithuania (1), Luxembourg (4), and the US (4).
