SC adjourns hearing on Class 12 Board Exam Cancellation

As per the latest update, the Supreme Court of India has adjourned the hearing on the PIL seeking cancellation of Class 12 Board Exams 2021 of CBSE and ICSE Boards, which was scheduled to be held today.

The Public Interest Litigation was filed by concerned parties about the Central Government’s decision to hold Class 12 board exams despite the challenging situation of COVID-19 pandemic. Following the postponement of the hearing, Supreme Court will hear the matter now on 31st May 2021.

Although the PIL was recorded half a month back the case has been forthcoming because of the non availability of the CJI. After various solicitations from senior legal counselors, the CJI has set up three benches to take care of the PIL recorded under urgency. The matter for wiping out of the CBSE class 12 assessments has been listed for today.

Students are looking for a decision from the Supreme Court if all else fails and surprisingly however the CBSE has not declared a choice yet it has been acknowledged by numerous that the board will lead the tests securely in July 2021.

The Supreme Court in 2020 had ordered the CBSE to cancel the pending exams and mark the students based on the papers they have already attempted. With the CBSE however not conducting an exam this year a decision is yet to be made.
