“PARIVESH” – an environmental single window hub for Environment, Forest, Wildlife and CRZ clearances launched

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, launched PARIVESH (Pro-Active and Responsive facilitation by Interactive, Virtuous and Environmental Single-window Hub) on the occasion of World Biofuel Day.

It has been designed, developed and hosted by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, with technical support of National Informatics Centre (NIC).
Highlights of PARIVESH:

single registration and single sign-in for all types of clearances (i.e. Environment, Forest, Wildlife and CRZ clearances)

unique-ID for all types of clearances for a particular project

Santali becomes 1st Indian tribal language to get own Wikipedia edition

The Santhali Wikipedia got approval from the language committee of the Wikimedia Foundation on June 28 and went live on August 2.

It presently has content of about 70,000 words.

Santali is written in Ol Chiki script and spoken by 6.4 million people, according to the 2001 census, in India alone and its speakers live mostly in Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha and Assam. It is also spoken in Bangladesh and Nepal.

Several hundred students wrote their Class 10 board examinations under the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) in the Ol Chiki script for the first time this year.

Wikipedia is available in nearly 300 languages globally as of August 2018.


Global Innovation Index, GII- 2018 Launched In India

The Global Innovation Index 2018 was launched in New Delhi by Ratan P Watal, Principal Adviser, NITI Aayog & Member Secretary of the Economic Advisory Council. The top three countries are Switzerland, Netherlands, Sweden.

India’s rank on the Global Innovation Index (GII) has improved from 60 in 2017 to 57 in 2018 among 130 countries. India has been consistently climbing the GII ranking for the past two years. The index was based on the theme– ‘Energizing the World with Innovation’.

It was 11th edition of GII and was jointly released by Cornell University, INSEAD and World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO).


Project ‘SWAYAM’ Launched By HRD Ministry

The Ministry of HRD has embarked on a major and new initiative Project called ‘Study Webs of Active Learning for Young Aspiring Minds’ (SWAYAM). It will provide one integrated platform and portal for online courses.

This covers all higher education subjects and skill sector courses. The objective is to ensure that the every student in our country has access to the best quality higher education at the affordable cost.

It is intended to host about 2000 courses and 80000 hours of learning material, within two years: covering school, under-graduate, post-graduate, engineering, law and other professional courses.

The 2018 Environmental Performance Index (EPI) ranks 180 countries on 24 performance indicators across 10 issue categories covering environmental health (50%) and ecosystem vitality (50%).

MOPAD: SBI Launches Unified Payment Terminal

The State Bank of India (SBI) has launched the Multi-Option Payment Acceptance Device or MOPAD, a unified payment option that accepts multiple payment methods.

Under this, customers will be able to pay through credit or debit cards, Bharat QR, Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and SBI Buddy (e-wallet) at a Point of Sale (PoS) terminal.

This initiative aims at providing digital convenience to customers and ease of doing business for merchants at the same time. A charge-slip as a proof of payment will be available for customers who pay through MOPAD.


HSBC Launched Online Platform ‘MyDeal’

The HSBC has launched a new digital platform to simplify capital raising process through capital markets by providing real-time access to information such as investors’ feedback, profiles, client orders and deal pricing.

The platform—MyDeal, contains all the information relating to a client’s capital markets transaction, and is updated on real time basis.

It aims for safer, faster and more convenient payment experience for HDFC Bank cardholders and help drive incremental digital spend.

HDFC Bank has more than 35 million credit and debit cards issued in India, while PayPal is available across over 200 markets globally with a network of 19 million merchants.

Neeraj Chopra India’s Flag Bearer At Asian Games 2018 Opening Ceremony

The Javelin thrower star Neeraj Chopra will be India’s flag bearer in the opening ceremony of the upcoming Asian Games 2018. The Games will be held from August 18 to September 2 in the Indonesian cities of Jakarta and Palembang.

The 20-year-old Neeraj is the reigning Commonwealth Games champion and won a gold in the Savo Games in Finland last month.
